Harrisa - L'Olivier

Harissa is a hot red pepper paste used in North African cooking. This variety at L'Olivier has lemon juice in addition to the hot and spicy red pepper, garlic, olive oil.

Not surprisingly, it goes great with Indian food.

L'Olivier also has an outdoor barbecue making merguez sausage and other sandwiches.

Chocolats Privilège has great chocolates and chocolate spreads. And the hot chocolate drink is just $1.50 and unlike most other hot chocolates, it is very good!

Excellent fruit at this (and other vendors). Jean Talon market has much larger selection and quantity of fruits, vegetables, dining choices, oils, cheeses, meat, etc, as compared to the Atwater Market.

Great, fresh, and the best fried calamari.
This is at one end of the market, you'll see it first as you enter the market if you walk from Jean-Talon Metro station.

They also serve fried shrimp and fried eperlans (small whole fish).
2012 prices are around $9 each for a small plate, just the right size, of fried food.

Les Délices de la Mer - Saturday noon, come here for excellent fried fish - long line waiting to pick up the small package of fresh fish, fried, to be eaten standing up! It is very good. Cod, Turbot, or Halibut, is usually on the menu. This stall is outside the covered market - on the opposite side of covered market is another fish store - Aqua Mare - that sells fried calamari, another must have food here.

Across from Les Délices de la Mer stall, is a shop selling various types of sausages on a stick - bison, duck.
