crontab for non inetd/xinetd services

I have some non xinetd services, such as dovecot for both pop3 and imap
I know I can set them up in xinetd.
However I think it's safe enough to run blockhosts in cron,in order to update the firewall/hosts rules periodically.

eg:
in /etc/cron.d/blockhosts :

#every 5 min
*/5 * * * * root /usr/bin/blockhosts.py
