Some documents for Hindi text use Latin1 fonts that are overloaded to display non-Latin1 characters. This "hack" of using Latin1 fonts for Hindi will not work on all browsers.
As of Nov 2004, this usage does work on Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows - you will see the table below display as needed for this method to work.
FireFox 1.0 users on Windows will be able to view the pages in Hindi if the Unicode version of the xdvng font is installed (file name of the font is usually xdvng1__.ttf). If you have Symbol font encoding version of xdvng (file name usually xdvng.ttf), it will not work. The links to font files in the ITRANS Song Book page are to the Unicode ISO 10646-2 encoding versions of xdvng (file xdvng1__.ttf), and they will work.
All this information is as of November 2004, future browser implementations may not allow this hack to work at all.

If all rows above show the same text in the Xdvng column in your browser, then all pages using Latin1 for Hindi using Xdvng will display correctly (with some caveats - there will always be some issues).
