Does anyone know where that song comes from? i heard that therewas a movie in Britain in 1953 of the same title. The film was a horror deal about the murder of a woman. It caused quite a stir athe time since there had not been any violence on the new medium known as TV prior to that. It also gave rise to the dance known as the monkey.

It’s not from a movie. It’s from a 1950’s BBC radio comedy show called ‘Take It From Here’. The song is “Little Red Monkey” with words and music by Stephen Gale & Jack Jordan. The sheet music cover features programme stars Jimmy Edwards, Dick Bentley and Joy Nicholls. Published in the UK by Robbins Music in the 1950s.

It was originally written by my father for a 6 part 1953 BBC TV drama based around the cold war, and was a top ten hit in 1953. This was then adapted into a film in 1955, which aslo used the music. Lyrics were added for the radio show ” Take it from here”
