The bagels at St-Viateur Bagels are the best bagels in the world. It is the most caught in time neighborhood where you see bags and bags of flour and sesame seeds in the window and they are pulling fresh bagels out of a huge brick oven on a giant wooden plank right before your eyes. The bagels are warm and gooey and squishy and perfect.
Yet another thing Canada does better than the U.S. Gay marriage, healthcare, decriminlization of marijuana, senior care and now bagels — what does it mean when even New Yorkers are admitting that Canada is a cooler country?

I am currently in Montreal filming and I was just informed that Montreal has the “Best Bagels in the world’ has anyone else heard this? I’m going for a taste test myself Saturday morning… but I remain very skeptical.
stay tuned.
i know, it’s so exciting.

So apparently there are a few snafus to be worked out about where Cosmopolitan is premiering and when… stay tuned.

I just heard that Cosmopolitan was selected to be the opening night film of the IAAC Film Festival at Lincoln Center. The screening will be November 5th at the Walter Reade theater… and there will be a party after. I’ll be there to stumble through my first question and answer for the film and Madhur Jaffrey and Roshan Seth are expected as well.

Hope to see you there!

So it looks like Cosmopolitan will have it’s premiere screening at the Asia Society on Oct 27th. From what I understand, this is a private screening for members of the Asia Society and not an official premiere… I don’t know what that means ticket -wise. But if anyone is going to be in Manhattan Oct 27th - I’m sure there is a way to get tickets….

The Film is finally finished. I have no idea when PBS will air it - but I do know that the producers of the film are trying to hold off the air date as long as possible because there is significant interest to have a theatrical release of the film as well as a film festival run…
So please keep checking this BLOG for updates about Cosmo screenings near you!

In the meantime this is pretty cool. Move the arrow around.

Cameraman Finds Sole Black Person In Studio Audience
LINCOLN, NE—During Tuesday’s live broadcast of Mornings With Connie & Bill, Channel 8 cameraman Tom Benes managed to find Yolanda Davis, the only African-American in an otherwise all-Caucasian studio audience. “Connie [Dell] and Bill [Jordan] were chatting about Gladys Knight coming to town, and I just felt it would be nice to get a reaction shot from someone of color,” Benes said. “That’s the kind of subtle thing that makes the show more enjoyable for viewers at home.” Benes kept his camera trained on Davis during the entire discussion of the Knight concert and later got a quick shot of her during a brief mention of Halle Berry.

Okay. I warned you. If you must see the little red monkey for yourself, I can not be held responsible for the weeks of your life you might lose…

I’m in Los Angeles shooting for the new Margaret Cho movie “Revolution”. Sometimes there are people who you really admire their work and you really fall in love with uhm, who they seem to be? And I have now become afraid of meeting those people in real life — because, there will always be disappointment that they are not like that at all - or not really like that all the time — and that they have a whole staff of people around to help them be the fabulous person I fell in love with. Well, I have to say that Margaret Cho is not one of those people that at all. She is talented and funny and just sweet sweet sweet and the people all around her are all incredibly funny, very down to earth and this was one of the nicest film making experiences I’ve ever had. So I can thank Lorene Machado (whose comment is in the “apologies” entry for those who like the whole story) for bringing me on to Revolution. It’s about 3:30 in the morning now though and so I must cut this short… but if any of you haven’t seen her last two movies - I’m the One That I Want or Notorious C.H.O - run to the video store and rent them. RUN!
